Capintec has issued a safety notice for certain Captus 4000e Thyroid Uptake Systems (serial numbers 940548–941398, manufactured between April 2019 and February 2024).
Reported issue: cases of unexpected collimator detachment (≈ 28 lbs / 12.7 kg), posing a potential risk to operators and patients.
Immediate recommendations:
- Always lock the arm before use.
- Handle with care, avoid abrupt movements.
- Perform procedures with patients in a seated position rather than lying down.
- Store the arm in a vertical position when not in use.
Corrective action:
Capintec provides a replacement kit (Hard Stop Bracket) to secure the system.
Facilities should perform a preventive inspection and contact technical support.
