Bolus RT Material

The RT Bolus Material is an ivory-colored thermoplastic bolus, designed for single patient use in radiotherapy. It provides excellent conformity and stability throughout the entire course of treatment.

When placed in hot water at 60°C, the material softens and can be molded to nearly any body surface without creating air pockets. Once cooled, it retains the desired shape, ensuring better reproducibility of dose distribution across all treatment sessions.

Specifications

  • Material type: Ivory thermoplastic
  • Density: 1.1 g/cm³ (measured at 60°C / 140°F)
  • Softening temperature: 65°C – 70°C (hot water, 1 to 2 minutes depending on thickness)
  • Use: Single patient
  • Forming method: Softens in hot water, molds easily to body contours, holds shape when cooled
  • Shelf life: Minimum 18 months, up to 36 months in good storage conditions
  • Storage: Between 4°C and 32°C, relative humidity < 65%, avoid UV light exposure
  • Key benefit: Reproducibility and patient comfort throughout treatment
